Sarapiquí is an area of ​​Costa Rica very little known for tourism. Located in the province of Heredia and one hour from its capital, San José, Sarapiquí is also home to several nature reserves and national parks including the Braulio Carrillo National Park and the Sarapiquí Protected Area.

Within the humid tropical forest we can see a large number of birds (about 425 species of the more than 800 that the country has). Sarapiquí is surprising for its rich biodiversity, which is why many environmental scientists from different countries have chosen this corner of Costa Rica to carry out their research. Many of its main attractions are related to education about nature. The La Selva Biological Station (sponsored by national and international universities) and the La Tirimbina Rainforest Center stand out, among many others. Sarapiquí is a green region, an area that has become by itself an ideal place for the practice of ecotourism. An excursion through the humid tropical forest is really recommended and a unique experience.
