Playa Flamingo Costa Rica is a white sand beach, crystal clear blue waters, lagoons, abundant mangroves, very rich in vegetation and natural beauty, considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. Due to its location in Punta Salinas, it offers an incredible view of the Brasilito and Potrero bays, making it ideal for an unforgettable vacation.

Interestingly, the original name of Playa Flamingo was “Playa Blanca”, until it changed its name in the 1950s, coinciding with the construction of the first major hotel in the area, the Flamingo Beach Resort, but in case you are wondering , there are no flamingos in Costa Rica!

Playa Flamingo offers visitors one of the best deep sea fishing in the world, as marlin, swordfish, dorado, sailfish, roosterfish, snapper and tuna are found throughout the year. This is why every year in July, Playa Flamingo is the host of a spectacular international Sailfish tournament, sponsored by the Amateur Fishermen’s Club of Costa Rica. In addition to deep-sea fishing, Playa Flamingo also offers a wide variety of water sports, such as scuba diving, providing tourists with the exciting experience of swimming alongside whitetip sharks and a unique set of exotic tropical fish and marine life. Also, in Playa Flamingo visitors can find expeditions and tours to the nearby Isla de Plata to practice fishing and diving or take a sunset cruise. In addition, Playa Flamingo also has a wide variety of land activities, such as ATV (quad bikes), horseback riding, hiking, canopy tours, as well as educational and natural activities, by virtue of its proximity to the Santa Rosa National Park and the Park National Palo Verde.

There is much to see and do in Tamarindo and in the Guanacaste province. We offer you comfortable excursions allowing you to complete your ideal vacation.

Some of the tours available: Visit to the picturesque town of Guatil ceramics, rafting on the Corobicí River, visit the Palo Verde National Park Wetland Sanctuary, trips to the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano and the Arenal Volcano, to name a few.

Also, thanks to the proximity by car to Tamarindo beach, you can experience the adventure of jumping on the zip line through the dry tropical forest, enjoying the canopy and wildlife of the place.

Another example of local tourism in Guanacaste is horseback riding, where you can tour more country areas, nearby towns, and remote beaches at your leisure.

The adrenaline will continue to flow when Guanacaste is discovered from above, using an ultralight plane, a gyrocompass. The gyro can even slide over wave crests in a maneuver called ‘aerial surfing’.

One of the most popular excursions is to visit Las Baulas National Park, the home of the endangered giant leatherback turtle. From October to March, there are guided night tours where tourists are taken to see the turtles that come ashore to lay their eggs.

This area is also known for tennis, golf, fishing, diving, and other water sports.

Tamarindo is well known as the best place in Costa Rica for surfing. The movie “Endless Summer 2” positioned Tamarindo on the map as an international destination for surfing. A wide variety of professional instructors and well-equipped tents are available at this location.
