Explore the most exotic corners of Costa Rica at the rhythm of the jungle. Travel to unimaginable destinations such as the vast Tortuguero canals on the north coast of the Costa Rican Caribbean and live the Afro-Caribbean culture while enjoying the delights of the area in the beautiful Puerto Viejo. From the Arenal volcano to the amazing water of Río Celeste, from Rincón de la Vieja to the warm waters of Playa Tamarindo in Guanacaste. Day 1
Arrive to San José

Welcome to Costa Rica! Costa Rica Jungle Rhythms tour. For your added comfort, once you have passed immigration and customs and stepped out of the airport doors, you will have one of our representatives waiting for you outside with a sign with your name on it. He will drive you to your hotel in San José. You will receive a welcome package with your vouchers, a country map, and any other touristic information that we deem you may find useful.

Day 02
Bus & Boat Transfer to Tortuguero

Marvel at the spectacular scenery as you make your way through the city to Braulio Carrillo National Park. En route you’ll pass through the agricultural region of the Limon Lowlands, where crops of pineapples, paddies of rice, and various forms of cattle flourish. An opportunity to enjoy a delicious, typical Costa Rican breakfast presents itself along the way. Once you’ve arrived at the port, you will be transferred by boat to the lodge. Here is your chance to experience the beautiful Tortuguero River and Tortuguero National Park canals.

Day 03 
Programmed activities at Tortuguero

Rise and shine bright and early this morning, where you have a chance to enjoy a famous Costa Rican coffee, or tea at the restaurant before heading out in search of adventure. You have the opportunity of enjoy by your own a walk at the hotel trails or take an optional excursion (not Included). In the afternoon join a guided Canal Tour to experience the jungle which surrounds the nearby canals. Through an infinite network of river canals and mangroves you will experience a truly unique contact with nature. Your guide will explain what they’ve learnt about this beautiful jungle flora and fauna.

Days 04
Boat & Bus transfer to Guapiles. After Lunch, pick up your car rental and Self-drive to Puerto Viejo de Limón

Located in Limon province on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca is a beach lover’s paradise. Here, amidst the exotic flora and fauna, lies a vibrant seaside town with gorgeous beaches, crystal clear blue waters, and some of the most amazing surfing opportunities. Formerly a quiet little fishing village, Puerto Viejo has a charm that is all its own. With its relaxed atmosphere and its own unique blend of Latino, Afro-Caribbean and Bribri indigenous cultures, Puerto Viejo is a lively place to have a fun relaxing vacation.

Self-drive to Sarapiquí

Sarapiqui is not a popular tourist destination yet, but boasts an amazing amount of biodiversity and should be on every nature lover’s list. A great place to enjoy Costa Rica’s amazing natural beauty, Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui is perfect for those who enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, horseback riding, bird watching, white water rafting, or kayaking. A great way to spend a day here would be to take an optional rafting trip down the Sarapiqui River, one of the most important trade routes between this region and the Caribbean coast.

Arenal Volcano located in La Fortuna, is the most iconic volcano in Costa Rica. Arenal is a worthy destination, thanks to the dense forest covering her lower slopes and foothills, and her picture-perfect conical shape up top. This area is rugged and varied, rich with wildlife and laced with trails.

Self-drive to Tenorio

The Tenorio Volcano National Park is one home of Costa Rica’s most spectacular natural wonders: the sky blue Río Celeste Waterfall. The result of sulphur and calcium carbonate from the minerals in the river are giving the bright color. As this river is situated inside the Tenorio National Park, one must hike within the park to see it. Along its trails, wildlife abounds with extensive bird species, butterflies and monkeys. One highlight of the trails is the climb to the volcano’s symmetrical cinder cone, as well as multiple hot springs along the way.

Self-drive to Rincón de la Vieja

Rincon de la Vieja National Park is located about 25 km (15 miles) northeast of Liberia, the capital city of Guanacaste. Rincon de la Vieja National Park is a special place because it sits in a part of Guanacaste where the flat plains meet the jungle-filled mountains. For this reason, in dry times of year the area will remain green and vibrant. Since there is more vegetation, there are also better chances to spot wildlife. Another big draw of Rincon de la Vieja National Park are the many volcanic elements. Active steam vents and bubbling mud pots can be seen right along the trails.

***Note that the Rincón de la Vieja National Park is closed on Mondays.

Self-drive to Tamarindo

Tamarindo, with its glorious beaches, offers outstanding surfing opportunities for beginners, intermediate and experienced surfers. Sport fishing tours are a great way to get out into these blue waters for the chance to catch Sailfish, Yellow Fin Tuna and Dorado. Watch the majestic leatherback turtles come upon shore to nest at Playa Grande or enjoy an early bird watching tour. Take a kayak snorkeling tour, horseback ride along beautiful beaches, or zip through the canopy of the tropical dry forest on a canopy tour.

Self-drive to Monteverde

A startling haven for all that is living and natural, the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve promises a journey that will make you one with nature–at a whole new level. Located in the Cordillera de Tilarán, Monteverde is one of the top ecotourism destinations the world over, being one of the most spectacular wildlife sanctuary and nature reserve in the world. It is actually home to some of the most endangered species in the planet. Its elevation is from 600 meters to 1800 meters above sea level in some isolated areas.

Self-drive to Quepos/Manuel Antonio

Manuel Antonio National Park combines the rainforest with breathtaking white-sand beaches, among the most beautiful in Costa Rica. The Manuel Antonio Region has received plenty of coverage in travel magazines, earning it the distinction of one of the 10 most beautiful places in the world. From Manuel Antonio you can experience whitewater rafting, guided rainforest waterfall walks, horseback riding, snorkeling and sports fishing.

***Note that Manuel Antonio National Park is closed on Mondays.

Day 19
Self-drive to Sierpe, park your car rental. Boat Transfer from Sierpe to Drake Bay Area

The village of Drake Bay sits on the Pacific side of the peninsula but is well protected from ocean swells due to its position in a wide cove. One reason Drake Bay is so special is that it is difficult to access and gives you that feeling of being away from it all! Arriving via boat is a great experience. These boats are about 20 feet long and are covered for shade. They leave from the small riverside town of Sierpe and bring you down the beautiful Sierpe River, through mangroves, out to the ocean, and along the coastline to Drake Bay.

Day 20
Corcovado National Park Tour, San Pedrillo Station

We will leave at 6 am, and the transfer takes around 30 minutes by boat. A visit to the Corcovado National Park is a must when on the Osa Peninsula. The National Park is one of the most beautiful conservation regions of the world. Here you are likely to see ocelots, margay, jaguars, tapirs, red macaws, toucans, quetzals and lots more. There may be one hundred different types of trees in one hundred meters. At midday you stop to eat on a deserted beach or swim in San Pedrillo waterfall. The 3 km walk is not terribly difficult but be prepared for a lot of ups and downs through the uneven jungle. You will be ready for a shower and a snooze when you return to the hotel.

Day 21
Snorkeling at Caño Island

When the boat arrives to the Island, the instructor will go to the Minaet Station on the Island in order to give the register and show the documents with the reservation and the entrances fees. After that the snorkelers go in the boat with the guide to do snorkel in the points authorized for that. The new regulation in the island is that is not allowed to do snorkeling from the beach. It is not allowed to eat on the island, neither are there toilets. We will do the first snorkeling and then you can rest on the beach of the Island – we offer water or natural juice – afterwards we will do the second snorkeling, followed by a lunch at the Pirate Cove.

Day 22
Boat Transfer to Sierpe, pick up back your car rental. Self-drive to San Gerardo de Dota

San Gerardo de Dota is a little known destination in the remote mountains south of Costa Rica’s capital city, San Jose. The village is set deep in a valley, but is surrounded by the towering Talamanca mountains. Among the quiet forests of San Gerardo de Dota live a variety of animals and a wide selection of birds, including the famous Resplendent Quetzal and dozens of hummingbird species. Though San Gerardo de Dota is slowly becoming known for its super bird watching, it remains home to just a handful of quaint eco-lodges and restaurants, making it the perfect escape.

Day 23
Self-drive to San José. Drop Off your car rental at your hotel.

San Jose is the capital city of Costa Rica and is by far the largest city in the country. Due to its strategic location in the geographical heart of the country, San José is the ideal place to use as a base for taking daily excursions to a variety of sites and diverse regions.

Departure from San Jose to the International Airport
