Day 01
Arrive to San José

Welcome to Costa Rica! Exciting Costa Rica Family Trip. For your added comfort, once you have passed immigration and customs and stepped out of the airport doors, you will have one of our representatives waiting for you outside with a sign with your name on it. He will drive you to your hotel in San José. You will receive a welcome package with your vouchers, a country map, and any other touristic information that we deem you may find useful.

Day 02
Excursion to La Paz Waterfall Gardens
You will visit the La Paz Water Fall Garden for a scrumptious lunch and tour. When we arrive to La Paz we will walk through a trail leading to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. Inside the park we will also visit the hummingbird gallery, the serpentarium, the bird house, the butterfly garden and the frog’s exhibit. Suitable for all ages.

Day 03
Bus & boat transfer Tortuguero

Prepare for a day of adventure this morning as you board a comfortable, shared touring bus at your hotel in San Jose. Marvel at the spectacular scenery as you make your way through the city to Braulio Carrillo National Park. En route you’ll pass through the agricultural region of the Limon Lowlands, where crops of pineapples, paddies of rice, and various forms of cattle flourish. An opportunity to enjoy a delicious, typical Costa Rican breakfast presents itself along the way. Once you’ve arrived at the port, you will be transferred by boat to the lodge. Here is your chance to experience the beautiful Tortuguero River and Tortuguero National Park canals.

Day 04
Programmed activities at Tortuguero

Rise and shine bright and early this morning, where you have a chance to enjoy a famous Costa Rican coffee, or tea at the restaurant before heading out in search of adventure. You have the opportunity of enjoy by your own a walk at the hotel trails or take an optional excursion (not Included). In the afternoon join a guided Canal Tour to experience the jungle which surrounds the nearby canals. Through an infinite network of river canals and mangroves you will experience a truly unique contact with nature.

Day 05
Boat and bus transfer to Guápiles. After lunch pick up your car rental and drive to Sarapiquí

Sarapiqui is not a popular tourist destination yet, but boasts an amazing amount of biodiversity and should be on every nature lover’s list. A great place to enjoy Costa Rica’s amazing natural beauty, Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui is perfect for those who enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, horseback riding, bird watching, white water rafting, or kayaking. A great way to spend a day here would be to take an optional rafting trip down the Sarapiqui River, one of the most important trade routes between this region and the Caribbean coast.

Same day at night, Bat Program tour

Bats represent almost 50% of the mammals in Costa Rica (113 species). We invite you to enjoy this adventure discovering the wonders of this group. The activity exists of a multimedia presentation for about 30 minutes regarding the natural history of bats, their classification, diversity, adaptations, reproduction, threats and more. At the end of the presentation a trained guide will provide you with a safe opportunity to observe some of the bats up close that were captured during the evening for research projects.

Day 06
Safari Float in the morning

An early morning, guided 2 hours ride in rafts trough the beautiful and nature rich lower Sarapiquí and its tributaries from the Braulio Carrillo National Park. Stunning views and abundant fauna you will want to take with you… Get your cameras ready!

Chocolate Tour in the afternoon

This 2.5 hour tour will reveal the secrets and wonders of one of mankind’s favorite foods: chocolate. Originally from Central America, this plant has an extraordinary history. It was one of the most important products for the Mayan and Aztec cultures as well as for other Central American cultures.

Day 07
Self-drive to Arenal/Fortuna

Arenal Volcano located in La Fortuna, is the most iconic volcano in Costa Rica. For most of modern history, Volcán Arenal was just another dormant volcano surrounded by fertile farmland. But for about 42 years the volcano was an ever-active and awe-striking natural wonder, producing menacing ash columns, massive explosions and streams of glowing molten rock almost daily. The fiery views are gone for now, but Arenal is still a worthy destination, thanks to the dense forest covering her lower slopes and foothills, and her picture-perfect conical shape up top.

Day 08
Cultural tour – Organic Farm Tour Vida Campesina

Enjoy a guided journey guided of the Arenal Vida Campesina property where you can appreciate traditional and non-traditional cultivations and take part in activities like milking a cow, making tortillas, gathering of vegetables from the vegetable garden, cultural activities as the milling of sugar cane, typical dances and collecting water from our handmade well.

Days 09
Hike at Arenal Volcano National Park 
Arenal Volcano + Lake

The tour starts with tour from the hotel to the National Park Peninsula section near Lake Arenal, once on the site we are expected to hike along a easy trail for approximately one hour. At the end of it we will have the opportunity to climb to the observation platform to take a closer view of the volcano, receiving a full explanation of its history, activity cycles and geological formation. At the end of the trail, a refreshment of fresh fruit is served, then take our boat and take a trip along the wooded shores of Lake Arenal and islets to try to find some animals.

Included: Transportation from the hotel by minibus with A / C & Wifi, Naturalist bilingual guide, entrance to the National Park, bottled mineral water, snacks, equipment, water transport.

Days 10
Self-drive to Potrero Beach

Playa Potrero is located right next to Playa Flamingo, in the Guanacaste province in the North of Costa Rica. Enjoy impressive sunsets or horseback riding on  Potrero beach to discover the beautiful landscape, consisting of cliffy hills and a great variety of wildlife.  Potrero Beach is also the number one place in Costa Rica for sports fishing and offers a variety of spots for scuba diving. If you like to discover the surrounding rain forests, the Santa Rosa National Park as well as the Palo Verde National Reserve just serves well for doing so.

Self-drive to Monteverde

A startling haven for all that is living and natural, the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve promises a journey that will make you one with nature–at a whole new level. Located in the Cordillera de Tilarán, Monteverde is one of the top ecotourism destinations the world over, being one of the most spectacular wildlife sanctuary and nature reserve in the world. It is actually home to some of the most endangered species in the planet. Its elevation is from 600 meters to 1800 meters above sea level in some isolated areas.

Day 14
Hanging Bridge + Butterfly Garden+ Hummingbird Garden

Selvatura’s Tree Top Walkways consist of a trail that leads you through the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Here visitors will walk on eight different bridges with various lengths. Each bridge has a capacity of up to 80 people which makes them both the longest and strongest bridges in the Monteverde Cloud Forest. The Tree Top Walkways are suitable for people of all ages.

Self-drive to Quepos/Manuel Antonio

Manuel Antonio National Park combines the rainforest with breathtaking white-sand beaches, among the most beautiful in Costa Rica. The Manuel Antonio Region has received plenty of coverage in travel magazines, earning it the distinction of one of the 10 most beautiful places in the world. From Manuel Antonio you can experience whitewater rafting, guided rainforest waterfall walks, horseback riding, snorkeling and sports fishing.

***Note that Manuel Antonio National Park is closed on Mondays.

Self-drive to Alajuela. Drop Off the car rental at your hotel

As capital of Alajuela province, this city lies just a few minutes away from the Juan Santamaria International Airport. With easy access and plenty of bus routes, getting in and out of Alajuela is not a problem. A leading trade center for cattle and the sugar industries of the neighboring areas, Alajuela is also a fantastic summer getaway. This is in part due to the fabulous weather this city experiences throughout the year with its temperate climate.
