Turtle Observation (Camaronal/Ostional, depending on season)
Turtle Observation. At Ostional you have the chance to witness an amazing natural phenomenon called an “arribada” (arrival).
That is the time the sea turtles come to lay their eggs in staggering numbers for 2-4 days. A few hundred turtles, if not thousands, have been known to appear out of the depths of the sea to make their nests in the sand.
The best time to visit Ostional is just before and during an arribada. Generally (not always) they occur at the start of the last Quarter moon. At first, a few hundred turtles will come to the beach followed by a steady stream of sea turtles for the next three days.
