Horseback Riding to La Fortuna Waterfall
This half-day trip pairs horseback riding with a hike to reach the La Fortuna Waterfall, set in the rainforest near town. After a short safety briefing, you’ll spend about 3 km in the saddle, crossing secondary forest and farmland with a photo stop at the Pino Blanco Waterfall lookout. From there it’s a 1 km walk on rugged trail through mature forest along the Fortuna River, ending at the waterfall where you can swim or just rest by the water. Along the way it’s common to spot monkeys, toucans, and other birds.
The whole outing runs roughly 4 hours, with departures at 8:30 am (back by 12:00 pm) or 1:30 pm (back by 5:30 pm). A minimum of 2 adults is required, and children 5 and up are welcome.
