Day 3: In the morning, embark on an exhilarating Whitewater Rafting Adventure on the Sarapiquí River, navigating Class II-III rapids in La Virgen. After the tour selfdrive to Arenal
Day 03 Image
The Northern Plains of Costa Rica showcases some very scenic countryside towns. Small agriculture communities and cattle ranches cover rolling hills and deep valleys. The plains, rainforests and rivers make the north central a must-see in any Costa Rica program. The main attraction is the iconic Arenal Volcano. The Arenal Volcano area is Costa Rica’s premier region of exploration and excitement: Arenal is synonymous to adventure and Eco-discovery, where you can embark in a wide variety of activities. Enjoy the thrill of whitewater rafting or canyoning, or combine adventure with ecological discovery in a canopy tour. Hike the volcano or explore the rainforest strolling through hanging bridges. Feel transformed by the beauty and variety of our wildlife and tropical jungle. Get ready for a life changing adventure!
This trip begins in the town known as La Virgen de Sarapiquí, one of the most important communities in the area, and runs through a beautiful section of exciting white water rapids and beautiful pools, all surrounded by lush nature. It is excellent for first-time rafters who want excitement and good rapids; as well as for people with previous rafting experience. To navigate this section, the minimum age for children is 9-10 years; and in older adults, it is important to take into account their physical condition or experience. Even so, we do not recommend the participation of older adults over 60 years of age. The journey of the complete section (La Virgen – Chilamate) lasts between 2 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours, and covers a distance of 16 kilometers (7 miles). This section includes a stop halfway through the journey to enjoy a fruit snack. During the journey, the guides will help you identify many species of birds, plants and other animals that you can observe on the banks of the river.

Day 4: Biking Tour Around the Arenal Lake
Day 04 Image
Cycling is the second most practiced sport in Costa Rica, after soccer. Speaking specifically of mountain biking; the characteristics of our geography, the great extension of rural areas, and the scenic beauty of the roads allow us to have some of the best routes in the world. On this tour, we will travel a low traffic route for approximately 8 miles (13 km) each way. The two main attractions of the area, the majestic Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal, will give us incredible views on either side, as we cross picturesque towns, forests, and streams. It is important to highlight that you do NOT need to be an expert cyclist for this tour. The tour is an excellent combination of nature and recreational, non-competitive sport; however, we can adapt the route to your desired difficulty level and extend the tour to a little more than the 8 miles (13 km) if needed. Along the ride, it is possible to encounter wildlife species such as coatis, monkeys, toucans, and herons, among others. A guide will accompany you on the tour and our assistance van will be near in case you need anything.

The marine reserve has become famous for its migrating pods of humpback whales and its virtually abandoned wilderness beaches, but there are also good waterfalls nearby. One of the country’s most important tourist events happens yearly in Uvita: An increasingly popular Whale and Dolphin Festival celebrating the arrival of the humpbacks. Recognizable about Marino Ballena national Park is a 1 km sand bar that reminds of the shape of a whale tail, a result of converging currents. Uvita is perfect for travelers that are looking for an off-the beaten path holiday as not many tourists are frequenting Uvita´s beaches. Don’t miss a visit to the nearby waterfalls Cascada Verde and the Catarata Pavon which are great for swimming in the crystal clear waters!
