Unique Caño Negro Rio Frio Boat Safari
This full-day trip heads into the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge, a wetland reserve on Costa Rica’s northern plains. You’ll travel the Río Frío by boat through a protected ecosystem that supports more than 300 species of birds, so it’s a strong choice if you’re keen on birdwatching. Along the way, expect good chances of spotting monkeys, caimans, and sloths in the trees and reeds lining the water.
The day also includes a stop at “El Corral” for a look at local community life and traditional farming in the area. Departure is at 8:00 AM and the tour runs about 8 hours.
Included: transportation, a professional guide, life jacket, water refill station, lunch, and fresh fruit. Bring lightweight tropical clothing, sturdy walking shoes, a water bottle, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, and a camera and binoculars if you have them. Price is $93 per adult and $65 per child (ages 4–11); children under 3 are free.
